WELCOME TO
THE RIVER

Definition: A natural flowing watercourse, usually freshwater, moving from higher to lower elevations and eventually emptying into another body of water such as an ocean, sea, or lake. Rivers are critical for ecosystems, transportation, and human settlements.

PROTECT EVERY BEND & RAPID

RECREATIONAL

Anglers are drawn to the challenge and beauty of rivers, where every bend brings something new. By following local regulations, using barbless hooks, and minimizing habitat disturbance, river fishing can remain a sustainable way to connect with nature.

COMMERCIAL

Rivers play a crucial role in commerce, providing natural routes for transportation, irrigation, and energy. Their commercial use supports agriculture, industry, and trade, especially in inland regions. When managed responsibly, rivers can drive economic growth without compromising environmental health.

MIDWAY 'TWIXT EARTH AND HEAVEN

As water is the blood of our world, so too are the rivers the veins. Roads and paths coursing through every landscape, connecting wildlife, people, ecosystems, and centuries. The river lies at the core of every habitat, offering a rich wellspring of life somewhere "midway 'twixt earth and heaven", to quote E. Pauline Johnson.

Rivers are vital for sustaining life, supplying fresh water for drinking, farming, and industry while supporting diverse ecosystems along their paths. They help regulate climate by transporting nutrients, cycling carbon, and connecting land to sea. These incredible arteries are fragile however, and can only survive when protected through sustainable use and traversal.

To sustain our planet, our rivers must always course freely, and without impediment. It's our job to safeguard their run.
