WELCOME TO
THE LAKE
Definition: An inland body of standing water, usually freshwater, surrounded by land. Lakes are larger and deeper than ponds and are formed by geological or climatic processes, including tectonic activity, glacial activity, or river blockages.
I HEAR IT IN THE DEEP HEART'S CORE
William Butler Yeats wrote of escaping to find peace at "The Lake Isle of Innisfree", where the sound of the lake's quiet waves lapping on the shore were heard within "the deep heart's core". Indeed, the lake is, and always has been, a haven for the fisherman, a place of respite, serenity, and a good catch.
But our lakes are not to be taken for granted. Lakes play a key role in regulating local climates by storing heat, influencing weather patterns, and supporting the water cycle. They provide fresh water for drinking, agriculture, and industry, and support rich ecosystems and biodiversity. Healthy lakes are essential for both environmental balance and human well-being.

FRESHWATER, FRESH WATER
RECREATIONAL
Lake fishing is defined by the quiet moments, the thrill of the catch, and the connection to freshwater ecosystems. By following local regulations, practicing catch-and-release, and avoiding pollution, anglers can help keep lakes healthy and fish populations thriving.

SPORT FISHING
Sport fishing in the lake offers a peaceful yet thrilling experience, with calm waters and the chance to catch a variety of freshwater species. Sustainable practices are key to maintaining healthy fish stocks and preserving the natural beauty of these inland waters.

COMMERCIAL
Commercial lake fishing supports the livelihoods of many in surrounding communities. When managed sustainably - through quotas, seasonal limits, and habitat protection - it helps maintain fish populations and the long-term health of lake ecosystems.
